E-mail Marketing With Video
Published January 21, 2014 by Mac Chorlton
Like most people, I subscribe to various e-mail blasts or e-newsletters for businesses that I frequent or different groups and organizations that I follow. I’ve been glad to see more of those folks including videos within the content they send me. Most surveys show that online video can play a vital role during a consumer’s purchasing process. Increasingly, the rise of online video content marketing coincides with need to connect with consumers in different ways as they continue to tune out more traditional marketing messages.
Using opt-in email marketing can help any business reach their target audiences. But combining that communication with links to videos about the company and their products or services can help even more. In fact, recent research shows how companies that use video in their e-mail campaigns have a 55% higher click-through rate. Also, companies that use video in their e-mail releases see a 44% increase in the amount of time subscribers spent viewing email and 41% reported an increase in the sharing or forwarding of those emails.
We work with lots of clients who incorporate the video content we produce for them into their e-mail campaigns. A good example of that is our work with the Wisconsin Technology Council and WisBusiness.com. We produce an ongoing video series for them called “WisBusiness: The Show” which updates viewers on business and technology news from around the state of Wisconsin. The Tech Council does a great job including links to each new show with e-mail blasts to their subscribers and their regular e-mail newsletters. The inclusion of those links has led to increased viewership and helps them reach out to their members to provide information, advocacy, and content that is relevant to them. The show also can be used as a showcase to highlight members with interviews in the show and updates about their business or organization.
